Who we are

Careful Tree Surgery for a Historic Town

Lantra Awards approved training provider logo
City and Guilds qualified logo
NPTC qualified tree surgeon certification logo

Warwick is not a town where you can drop a tree carelessly. Gardens back onto listed sandstone walls, streets narrow to a single lane inside the old town, and much of the centre sits within a conservation area. That is exactly the kind of work AWD Trees is set up for: methodical, rigged, sectional dismantling where every limb comes down under control.

We are about twenty-five minutes from Warwick via the M40, and we work across the town and its surrounding villages every month, from compact courtyard gardens off Smith Street to large plots along the Myton Road and out towards Hampton Magna and Barford.

Local knowledge

Local Knowledge That Protects You and Your Trees

Working Around Warwick’s Heritage

Within the town walls, access is often the deciding factor in how a job is done. We routinely carry equipment through houses, use compact tracked chippers for rear gardens, and time work around school-run traffic on the Banbury and Coventry roads. Near listed structures we rig every section, no shortcuts.

Conservation Areas and Warwick District Council

A large part of central Warwick is a designated conservation area, which means the council must be given six weeks’ notice before work on any tree with a stem wider than 75mm. Warwick District Council also maintains TPOs across the town and villages like Barford and Hampton Magna. We check, notify and apply on your behalf as standard.

Veteran Trees and River Frontage

Between St Nicholas Park, Priory Park and the Avon riverbank, Warwick has a remarkable stock of veteran limes, willows and horse chestnuts. Riverside willows in particular need regular pollarding to stay safe, a traditional technique our climbers carry out regularly along the Avon.

Why Choose Us

Precision Work Where It Matters Most

Anyone can fell a tree in an open field. Warwick work is different: it rewards planning, rigging skill and patience. We photograph and assess access before we quote, agree drop zones and protection measures with you in writing, and carry the insurance and NPTC certification that lets you relax while a large tree comes down a piece at a time beside your home.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my Warwick garden in a conservation area?

If you live inside the old town or near the castle approaches, quite possibly. Conservation-area rules require six weeks' written notice to Warwick District Council before most tree work. We confirm your property's status free of charge when we quote and file the notice for you.

Can you remove a large tree from a garden with no side access?

Yes. We dismantle the tree in sections from the top down, lowering each piece on ropes, and carry the timber and brash through the property with floors and walls protected. It takes longer than an open felling but is completely routine for us.

Do you cover the villages around Warwick?

We do. Barford, Hampton Magna, Budbrooke, Leek Wootton, Norton Lindsey, Sherbourne and out towards Wellesbourne. Being M40-adjacent makes the whole district quick to reach from our base.

My willow overhangs the river, can you pollard it?

Yes, riverside willow pollarding is traditional management we carry out regularly. Repollarding every few years keeps the tree safe and stable. Where the Environment Agency has an interest in the watercourse we will advise on any consents needed.

What happens to the timber and branches afterwards?

Everything is cleared as standard: brash is chipped on site and removed, timber is taken away or logged for your wood burner if you prefer. We leave the garden swept and tidy.
